In 2017 I was fortunate to be asked to make some work in Jackson Hole Wyoming a beautiful wild  part of The United States of America. It was an intensive and inspiring period of work. One piece that was produced is shown below (the image was actually taken while it was in progress in the snow field). Winter Snow Light through the Aspens (Ink on paper) 122 x 59 cm.

It was a a ballet of Winter light through the branches and during the course of the frosty afternoon I saw that the branches and light were turning on each other.

Light descending and Branches ascending. Aspen have particularly dark bark markings which is tantalising when the light hits the silvery trunks.

I made a sketch of this as a concept and it sat in my sketchbook.. A few days later I realised this vision with the Trees and Light was so close to the twist of DNA. This well know spiral in Nature had always fascinated me.

It seemed to make such sense of the experience I had in the forest.

Now in Koumi it all came back to me, and I saw this Spiral again: There was a wonderful wall provided in the design of Tadao Ando, there was the roll of paper, and here was the Inspiration in The Forest that asked me to dance some more.
